Reserve Claret
Joe occasionally asks for a glass of inspiration while we are working at the winery. We felt that name fully described the few select barrels of reserve quality wine.
The 2004 Columbia Valley Inspiration reserve Claret is 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 20% Petit Verdot, 13% Malbec, 12% Cabernet Franc from our vines at Andrews Horse Heaven Ranch, Gunselman Bench, Phinny Hill and McKinley Springs Vineyards in Horse Heaven Hills. It was aged in 100% new French oak for 26 months. The alcohol by volume is 14.5%, about 100 cases made, bottled January, 2007.

93 Wine Enthusiast Cellar Selection
Dr. Joe Gunselman’s wines consistently show polish and verve, and this is always the best of them. There are streaks of every conceivable red fruit, a layer of chocolate, a whiff of coffee, a lick of butterscotch and plenty of vivid acids. The wine is sleek and yet powerful, and the flavors suggest layering which in turn suggests complexity and a long life ahead. --P.G.
